Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Transportation Supervisor in the United States (Ohio). The role oversees truck fleet operations, ensures high service levels, and manages driver activities to support supply chain integrity and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities include fleet maintenance, scheduling, safety programs, DoT reporting, and staff supervision, with a focus on cost efficiency and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience in transportation and fleet management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the truck fleet operations to maintain high service levels at minimum cost.
• Maintain accurate files on vehicle use, condition, and maintenance.
• Ensure tractors and trailers are efficiently utilized by scheduling deliveries.
• Implement inspection and maintenance programs to keep equipment in good condition.
• Recommend equipment specifications and improvements to the Transportation Manager.
• Provide delivery service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Supervise clerical staff and drivers to meet objectives.
• Develop and maintain a productive team through training and development.
• Match associates’ skills to the work requirements.
• Apply effective communication and motivational techniques; supervise and discipline subordinates.
• Implement a driver safety program and performance evaluation system.
• Process bills of lading and ensure proper charges.
• Establish trip reporting procedures and file DOT reports on time.
