Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to manage truck fleet operations and ensure high service levels at minimal cost. The role emphasizes accurate record keeping, efficient scheduling, and compliance with safety and regulatory programs.

Responsibilities include supervising clerical staff and drivers, hiring and training, and implementing performance evaluations. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, with preference for fleet-management experience.

• Experience in transportation and fleet management, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee truck fleet operations to attain high service levels at minimum expense.
• Maintain accurate files on vehicle use, condition, and maintenance.
• Ensure tractors and trailers are efficiently utilized by delivery scheduling.
• Implement inspection and maintenance programs for equipment.
• Recommend specifications for new equipment and fleet improvements.
• Provide guidance to Transportation Manager on fleet operations.
• Deliver service that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
• Direct clerical staff and drivers to achieve objectives.
• Hire, train and develop staff; match skills to work requirements.
• Apply sound communication and motivational techniques; supervise subordinates.
• Implement performance-evaluation systems for promotions and wage changes.
• Establish a driver safety program.
• Process bills of lading with correct charges.
• Establish trip reporting procedures and process reports.
• Ensure timely filing of Department of Transportation reports.
