Job summary

Winter Services is seeking a full-time Fleet Mechanic in Illinois to inspect and repair our fleet of trucks, plows, and heavy equipment, and to perform preventative maintenance to keep our inventory ready for next season’s operations.

The role involves diagnosing issues, testing parts and systems, and ensuring safe, reliable operation. CDL-B is preferred; long winter shifts may be required. Winter Services is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must have strong background in brakes, suspension, exhaust and emissions, light fabrication, hydraulics, electrical and diagnostics.
• ASE/other certifications preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Maintains vehicles and equipment including trucks and heavy equipment.
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance (oil changes, tune-ups).
• Performs tests on parts and systems to ensure proper function.
• Identifies mechanical problems and documents findings.
• Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems (brakes, belts, pumps, transmissions).
• Plans and schedules repairs and maintenance activities.
• Inspects vehicles at job sites and facilities.
• Adheres to DOT requirements.
• Test drives vehicles to confirm safe operation.
