Job description

UniFirst is seeking a reliable and hardworking Fleet Mechanic to join our community. As a Team Partner in the Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for carrying out all corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance on fleet vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Additionally, you will maintain fleet vehicles in safe working condition meeting DOT or other regulatory requirements. We operate on a standard Monday - Friday work week with periodic and weekend overtime. An immediate opening is available, and we provide on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify all vehicles and drivers are properly licensed.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance when due.
  • Ensure fleet vehicle appearance meets UniFirst standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained garage; purchase parts and monitor quotes for best pricing and quality.
  • Provide backup for shuttle runs when needed.
  • Complete all corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance on fleet vehicles.
  • Maintain fleet vehicles in safe working condition, meeting DOT and other regulatory standards.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Associates degree from an accredited technical school and relevant experience preferred; valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Must meet DOT requirements.
  • Ability to perform all vehicle repairs, with diagnostic knowledge of GM drivability; some diesel experience is highly preferred.
  • Willing to work overtime and perform occasional road calls.
  • 3-5 years of medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience including preventive maintenance, tire & wheel, brakes, drivetrain, diagnostics, suspension, electrical, and A/C.
  • Proven computer skills and ability to use diagnostic software.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
