Job summary

Norman Public Schools is seeking a Mechanic Service Technician to maintain school buses, district vehicles, and other automotive equipment. Under the Lead Mechanic, you will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs to ensure safe and reliable transportation operations.

Requirements include a High school diploma or GED, 1–2 years in automotive service, and a valid Class B CDL with endorsements. This is a safety-sensitive, non-exempt, 240-day position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational automotive training preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in automotive service or fleet maintenance.
• Valid Class B CDL with endorsements: Passenger, School Bus, Air Brakes.

Responsibilities

• Operate school buses and district vehicles safely and responsibly.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on vehicles and equipment.
• Complete maintenance records, forms, and work orders accurately and timely.
• Communicate with supervisors, coworkers, and the public regarding vehicle needs.
