Job summary

City of Dothan seeks a Fleet Technician to service and maintain city vehicles and equipment. The role runs Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm and involves performing preventative maintenance, oil changes, tire work, battery tests, and fluid maintenance.

You will keep detailed records and assist with emergency roadside repairs as needed. Ideal candidates have up-to-date knowledge of vehicle systems, safety procedures, and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods, tools and equipment used in service and maintenance of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Six (6) months of recent experience servicing automobiles and medium to heavy trucks, including mounting and repairing tires.
• Six (6) months of recent experience servicing construction equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on city vehicles and equipment.
• Changes oil and filters on autos, heavy trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Removes, repairs, replaces, and balances tires on vehicles and equipment.
• Checks fluid levels and changes fluids as needed.
• Tests and replaces batteries.
• Maintains records of parts, tires, fluids, and batteries used.
• Performs emergency roadside repairs as required.
• Maintains shop, tools, and delivers vehicles to dealer for repairs.
