Fleet Mechanic - IDS at PITTSBURGH International Airport

$28 per hour - $33 per hour

Full-time Position | Shoulder schedule: 4 ten-hour days, Monday - Thursday, 0500 - 1530 (May - Sept.) | Winter schedule: Rotating shifts based on operational needs (Oct. - Apr.)

Position Overview:

Mechanics ensure the proper performance, safety, and reliability of our deicer trucks, glycol recovery vehicles, support vehicles, and ground service equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage local maintenance scheduling and performance to ensure equipment dependability
  • Perform skilled maintenance following recognized procedures
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, blueprints, and related documents
  • Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic issues and resolve within established timeframes
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and conduct inspections

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years old
  • Effective communication skills in English (speaking and hearing)
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Own basic tools (sockets/wrenches up to 1" and 1/2" drive)
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of fluid types, diesel machinery, and tools
  • Discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English
  • Verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to deal tactfully with all levels of staff and clients
  • Experience with standard and specialty tools, diagnostic equipment
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to travel to other IDS stations as needed (TDY)

Work Environment:

Physically demanding, with prolonged standing, exposure to noise, odors, temperature variations, and heavy equipment.
