Job summary

CITY HOME is seeking a Mechanic I – TAMARAC to maintain and repair fleet vehicles. The role focuses on diagnosing problems, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring DOT, safety, and quality standards are met for trucks and service vehicles.

Requirements include a minimum of 2 years in a maintenance shop, fleet/diesel experience, valid Florida driver’s license, and ASE or related certifications. The pay rate ranges from $26 to $32 per hour, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Role Overview

As a Mechanic I, the primary function of this position is to pair, inspect, and maintain services for trucks, tractors and service vehicles in a company fleet. The Mechanic I is responsible for diagnosing automotive problems, determining their best solutions, and making any necessary repairs to ensure the fleet is running well in an efficient, quality‑minded and customer‑focused manner. Your contributions will ensure the success of the Operations Department at CITY HOME.

Position Title: Mechanic I – TAMARAC

Reports To: Operations Manager, Operations

Pay Rate: $26.00 – $32.00/hr (depending on experience)

Responsibilities

Vehicle Maintenance

• Conduct DOT inspections
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Repair engine, transmissions, chassis, brakes, electrical systems, and fuel systems
• Test drive vehicle

Computer Skills

• Initiate, populate, and close repair orders
• Perform vehicle diagnostics systems

Vehicle Body Repair

• Perform daily vehicle inspections
• Fabrication

Equipment Inspection

• Inspect compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems
• Inspect gasoline fueling station for safe working condition or defects
• Perform DOT safety inspections

Education & Work Experience

• No high school diploma required
• Previous warehouse/distribution center experience preferred but not required
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a maintenance shop environment
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a mechanical field
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with fleet/diesel trucks

Work Environment & Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• 0% travel

Physical Requirements

• Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs, bending, prolonged standing and walking
• Working safely with chemicals

Technology Requirements

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)

Certifications / Licenses

• Valid Florida Driver’s License
• OSHA 608/609
• ASE certifications and/or mechanical repair trade school certificate
