Job summary

Public Schools of Robeson County Transportation Department in Lumberton, NC seeks a Mechanic I to diagnose and repair a range of vehicle systems. The role reports to the Director of Transportation and is a full-time position with a starting monthly salary of $2,879.98.

Candidate must hold a high school diploma, obtain a Class A/B CDL with endorsements P & S within 3 months, and secure a School Bus Inspection License within the first year. Three years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Commercial driver’s license Class A or B with endorsements P & S within 3 months.
• NC DPI School Bus Inspection License within first year.
• Three years of automotive repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Locate and diagnose minor to common mechanical problems.
• Repair and replace damaged parts using appropriate tools and welding equipment.
• Remove, replace and reassemble transmissions, clutches, pumps, and other engine components.
• Fill fuel trucks and change oil and filters.
