Job summary

City of Hopewell is seeking a skilled fleet technician to perform preventive maintenance and repair on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including light and medium/heavy trucks and emergency vehicles. You will work under the Fleet Manager and maintain accurate repair logs and time entries.

The role requires hands-on diagnostic work, familiarity with shop tools, and the ability to read manuals and installation guides. A valid Virginia license and on-call availability may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in vehicle repair/maintenance required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to manufacturer and state specifications.
• Diagnose and repair fleet vehicles and equipment; follow manuals and reference docs.
• Enter time and repair data into computer database daily.
• May work on-call during off-hours for emergency repairs in the field.
• Assist with snow and ice control and other duties as assigned.
