Job summary

Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) seeks a skilled Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles, including diesel, gasoline, CNG, E85, and electric batteries. You will inspect, diagnose, and perform preventive maintenance and repairs under general supervision.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, brake, suspension, and hydraulic systems, plus welding and fabrication as needed. CDL requirement and ASE certifications are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; ability to read sketches or manuals.
• Strong customer service and teamwork skills; basic computer skills.
• Must obtain and maintain Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• ASE Certification(s) in automotive or heavy truck categories preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, brake, suspension, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and service on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic components and perform welding, fabrication, and body repairs as needed.
• Complete required training to stay current with KUB’s fleet technologies.
