Job summary

US Foods is seeking a skilled heavy‑duty diesel mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet of tractors, trailers, and other equipment in a maintenance facility in St. Louis.

You will document repairs in the fleet system, observe DOT standards, and work with fellow technicians. A minimum of 1 year hands‑on experience, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license are required; CDL and Maximo experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must have 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates).
  • Document equipment repairs and parts used in the fleet maintenance system.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment per safety regulations.
  • Willingness to pursue increased responsibilities and certifications.

BASIC PURPOSE

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Schedule:

Weekends off

  • 3rd shift: Sun-Thurs 10PM- 6AM

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
  • Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
  • Take directions from and assist senior technicians with repairs.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Internal: All Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators and Manager
  • External: N/A
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Onsite: The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have 1 year of verifiable hands‑on experience as a heavy‑duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job‑related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
  • Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
  • Previous mechanical and PM program experience
  • Experience using fleet maintenance software

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $29.00/hr to $37.00/hr.

This role will also receive overtime compensation.
