Job summary

US Foods is seeking a skilled heavy‑duty diesel mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet of tractors, trailers, and other equipment in a maintenance facility in St. Louis.

You will document repairs in the fleet system, observe DOT standards, and work with fellow technicians. A minimum of 1 year hands‑on experience, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license are required; CDL and Maximo experience preferred.

Qualifications

Must have 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
Must furnish own personal hand tools.
Able to read and write legibly and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates).
Document equipment repairs and parts used in the fleet maintenance system.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment per safety regulations.
Willingness to pursue increased responsibilities and certifications.

BASIC PURPOSE

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Schedule:

Weekends off

3rd shift: Sun-Thurs 10PM- 6AM

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
Take directions from and assist senior technicians with repairs.
Utilize fleet maintenance system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
Other duties as assigned by manager.

Internal: All Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators and Manager
External: N/A

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Onsite: The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.
Ability to work flexible schedule.
Must be willing to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have 1 year of verifiable hands‑on experience as a heavy‑duty commercial diesel mechanic.
Must furnish own personal hand tools.
Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job‑related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed); basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required.

CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING

LICENSES

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
Previous mechanical and PM program experience
Experience using fleet maintenance software
Welding ability

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $29.00/hr to $37.00/hr.

This role will also receive overtime compensation.
