Job summary

East Coast Facilities, Inc. is seeking skilled Mechanics to maintain and repair our fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, and small-engine gear across a regional division. You will use broad repair experience, diagnose issues, fabricate or repair components, and ensure safety standards are met.

Fluency in English, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel for out-of-state projects are required. You may lead or assist teammates and participate in winter snow operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional mechanical repair experience.
• Broad experience in mechanical repair, preventive maintenance, fabrication, and troubleshooting.
• Fluent in spoken and written English and holds a valid driver’s license.
• Willing to fly commercially for out-of-state deployments or surge operations.
• Able to pass drug test and criminal background check.
• Able to use a smartphone/tablet for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs safely, professionally, and accurately.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures without exception.
• Operate and test equipment and machinery related to fleet maintenance.
• Drive company vehicles as directed.
• Demonstrate journeyman-level proficiency in diesel, fleet, small engine, fabrication, or electrical/hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Assist with winter snow removal operations when required.

Major Areas of Focus

Mechanics are responsible for maintaining and repairing the company’s full fleet of trucks, heavy equipment, and small‑engine equipment within an assigned region or division. This role requires broad mechanical repair experience, strong diagnostic ability, and versatility across fabrication, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and component repair.

Mechanics may lead or assist other mechanics, shop assistants, or seasonal support when required. Strict adherence to safety standards is essential, and all fleet assets must be kept in safe, reliable working condition.

Mechanics must be fluent in spoken and written English due to the technical nature of repair documentation, safety requirements, and equipment manuals. They must also hold a valid driver’s license and be willing/able to fly commercially for out‑of‑state projects and surge operations.

Trade Skill Requirements

• Performs diagnostics on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and related components
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and resolves them within reasonable time frames
• Performs fabrication, welding, cutting, or component reconstruction when needed
• Supports all other tasks related to fleet maintenance

Winter Season Operations

All field workers and field managers are expected to participate in snow removal operations as needed and at management's direction. This aligns with our "all hands" policy, which boots dedicated snow operations roles with additional bandwidth as needed, especially during severe winter events.

• Operates plow trucks, loaders, and specialized snow‑removal equipment.
• Shovels snow and uses walk‑behind blowers safely and efficiently.
• Applies salt and de‑icing materials accurately and responsibly.
• Supports pre‑storm planning and operational staging.
• Assists with post‑storm cleanup, equipment servicing, and restocking.

Administrative Requirements

• Able to read, write, and complete repair orders, documentation, and inspection forms
• Completes required administrative tasks, including:
  • Equipment Repair Requests
  • Monthly Vehicle Safety Inspections
  • Trailer Safety Inspection Forms (when applicable)
• Uses a smartphone/tablet to take photos, send emails, receive work orders, and update systems

General Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional mechanical repair experience (small engine, fleet, diesel, or industrial equipment)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Works in or near areas with active automotive traffic
• May work near natural bodies of water or uneven surfaces
• Uses lifts, hoists, torches, and heavy shop tools
• Able to work overtime or extended shifts when required
• Works outdoors in extreme temperatures (0°F–95°F), including sun, rain, snow, and icy conditions
• Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and climbing throughout the workday
• Other duties may be assigned based on operational needs
