Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to keep our vehicle fleet roadworthy. You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs, inspect fleet vehicles, and uphold safety standards in a busy shop environment.

The role requires basic welding and hydraulic system knowledge; familiarity with forklifts/maneuvering heavy equipment is beneficial. Tools provided by the employee, with opportunities for growth in a large, sustainability-driven company.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year or more of mechanic experience, including operating forklifts/man lifts.
• Must have own tools.
• Class A CDL is a plus.
• Welding/metal fabrication experience or technical schooling.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical wiring.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance and repair work on fleet vehicles.
• Reviews driver vehicle inspection reports.
• Follows safety rules and attends safety meetings.
• Good understanding of hydraulic systems.
• Basic welding knowledge.
• Keeps shop organized using 5S principles.
• May respond to roadside calls for disabled vehicles.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for keeping all vehicles in the fleet roadworthy and ready for service when needed.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs all preventive maintenance and repair work necessary on fleet vehicles.
• Reviews driver vehicle inspection reports.
• Responsible for being familiar with and observing all company safety rules and regulations; recognizes that safety is top company priority; attends regularly scheduled safety meetings.
• Need to have good understanding of hydraulic systems.
• Need to have basic welding knowledge.
• Sweeps, cleans, organizes shop using 5S principles.
• Maybe required to answer roadside calls for disabled vehicles.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year or more of previous mechanic experience, to include operating forklifts/man lifts.
• Must have own tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A CDL a plus.
