The City of Delray Beach is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to service and repair city vehicles, trucks and equipment. Under general supervision, you will perform mechanical work, preventive maintenance and parts repair, with pay commensurate to qualifications and a potential 15% bonus for certifications.

Pay commensurate with qualifications and experience
Bonus of up to 15% based on current certifications held
Fleet mechanics who obtain three (3) Automotive Service Council (ASE) Certifications shall receive a bonus of five percent (5%) of gross pay per pay period.
An employee who obtains a total of six (6) ASE certifications shall receive a total bonus of ten percent (10%) of gross pay per pay period.
Upon obtaining ten (10) ASE Certifications an employee shall be paid the ASE Incentive of fifteen percent (15%) of gross pay per pay period.
Knowledge of construction, assembly, adjustment and maintenance of a wide variety of automotive, truck and equipment. Knowledge of all types of shopping tools. Ability to follow directions and have a mechanical aptitude. Ability to repair diesel motors and pumps. Ability to diagnosis the defects of worn or broken parts on engines. Ability to perform tune-ups; electrical, brake, air conditioning, cooling system, exhaust system repairs; front end and clutch repairs; pumps and related equipment maintenance. Skill in applying methods and techniques in the use of automotive or diesel repairs.

It is the policy of the City of Delray Beach that persons having a CDL and participating in activities regulated by DOT are subject to drug testing and alcohol testing. The Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires alcohol and drug testing of safety-sensitive employees in aviation, motor carriers, railroad, and mass transit industries. Provisions of this policy are based upon said Act and the relevant federal regulations applicable to the Act. As a condition of employment, The City of Delray Beach reserves the right to require all employees having a CDL and performing safety-sensitive activities regulated by DOT, to submit at any time to drug and/or alcohol testing to determine the presence of prohibited substances.
