Job Description
Reporting Relationships/Supervisory Responsibilities

Fleet Maintenance Technician reports to the Fleet Supervisor for daily assignments, tasks, and other projects.

Position Summary

Under close supervision, responsible for completing repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance services. Checks on company vehicles in accordance with prescribed PM policies and procedures. Responsible for accurate record keeping of all services and repairs completed.

Job Requirements
Accountabilities
  • Receives work orders for preventative and emergency maintenance and repairs on a variety of light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles and other components for gasoline and diesel-powered engines.
  • Performs oil changes, engine tune-ups, and front-end repairs, services vehicles with oil, lubricants, grease packs, water, fluids, and fuel.
  • Performs minor repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Performs required tire changes and wheel balancing.
  • Accounts for all work performed on a work order and properly documents all parts, supplies, and labor extended for repairs within the Fleet electronic system.
  • Responds to road service calls as needed.
  • Maintains and fosters positive and effective working relationships with staff and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education

High School Diploma or GED

Skills

Demonstrate people skills and effective communication skills. Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills, diagnostic skills, diligence, and ability to safely use hand tools of the trade. Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions in gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles using specialized tools, instruments, and equipment. Must have own tools and a strong automotive repair background.

Experience

One year of experience as a C Tech Mechanic.

Certification

National Automotive Service Technician (ASE) or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification, or obtain within 2 years.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of an automotive technology program.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Must be able to frequently move, lift, or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, bend for extended periods. Performs heavy physical labor outdoors.
