Job summary

Publix Super Markets Distribution in McCalla, AL is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician (Class A, B or C) to perform a variety of maintenance tasks on fleet vehicles and equipment in compliance with company policy and regulatory standards.

The role requires the ability to lift 65 pounds, read and write, and solve math problems. ASE certification is encouraged, and candidates must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Be at least 20 years old.
• Have a valid driver's license and authorization to drive a company vehicle.
• Be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time.
• Be able to lift a minimum of 65 pounds.
• Be able to read, write and solve math problems.
• Successfully complete required tests before start date: Basic Office Skills, Following Written Instructions, Spatial Reasoning, Mechanical Reasoning.
• Be able to interpret, understand, and follow instructions.
• Be capable of generating and processing work on a CMMS.
• Be able to obtain ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification.
• Be able to work independently with little supervision and supply/maintain hand tools.
• Must work well with others and show enthusiasm, initiative, and commitment to Publix's mission.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of maintenance functions on fleet vehicles and equipment per company policy and regulatory standards.
• Adhere to repair manuals, factory specs, schematics, and own knowledge.
• Note: position available as Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A, B or C and contingent on qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current McCalla Distribution associate
• Be able to read and interpret technical manuals
• Have at least two or more years of medium/heavy duty truck trade school or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of ARC, MIG, and GAS welding and cutting
• Basic knowledge of welding techniques (aluminum and steel)
• Have mechanical and diagnostic knowledge of fleet equipment, as well as knowledge of circuits and operational sequence of components
• One year of medium/heavy duty truck trade school or equivalent experience.

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.
