Job summary

Summit School Services is seeking a Fleet Tech II to diagnose and repair a school bus fleet, ensuring students are transported safely every day. You’ll work on diesel and gasoline systems, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate with the Lead Technician to complete maintenance on time.

The role requires at least three years of medium/heavy-duty mechanic experience, proficiency with diagnostic equipment, and a valid CDL preferred. ASE certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of light/medium/heavy-duty mechanic repair experience.
• Proficient with diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and A/C issues.
• Knowledge of major vehicle systems; diesel experience required; gasoline familiarity a plus.
• Prior fleet or dealership experience; familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Own the minimum hand tools for a Diesel/Gas Technician.
• English literacy; ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive and diesel systems - brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrains, electrical, cooling, and fuel systems.
• Perform engine adjustments, rebuilds, and test drives to verify repairs.
• Complete safety inspections and sign-offs before releasing vehicles.
• Maintain a safe, organized, compliant workspace per Federal, State, and local standards.
• Identify and report additional service needs or complex issues requiring advanced support.
• Log labor hours, parts used, and completed work in the maintenance system.
• Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or vehicle abuse immediately.
• Respond to road calls and perform mobile repairs when needed.
• Model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity in every task.
• Other duties as assigned.
