Job Description
Under direction, performs complex diagnostic automotive work, servicing, repairing, or maintaining various vehicles and equipment without supervision.

Work Location
Southeast Service Center - 1318 Southeast Loop 410, Bldg. 1, San Antonio, TX 78220

Work Hours
6:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m., Monday - Friday

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Services and repairs engines in automobiles, trucks, boats, and equipment.
  • Replaces and adjusts major drive train assemblies and components.
  • Repairs electrical automotive equipment, including batteries, lights, starters, modules, and alternators, often lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Uses diagnostic tools and test devices.
  • Performs system diagnostics and repairs electrical, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Maintains hydraulic systems.
  • Follows safety procedures when operating tools and equipment.
  • Prepares vehicles for State inspection.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency.
  • At least two (2) years of automotive repair experience.
  • Must obtain a valid Texas Commercial "B" Driver's License (CDL) and endorsements within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hazmat Credential
