Job summary

Bozzuto's Inc. seeks a Fleet Maintenance Technician to ensure ongoing functionality of tractors, trailers, and related fleet assets. You will perform routine and moderately complex maintenance, document repairs, and uphold OSHA and company safety policies.

Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing trailers, lift gates, ABS systems, engines, and related components; completing paperwork; and mentoring teammates. Work hours are early morning, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of technical experience in automotive or industrial equipment.
• Federal Annual Inspection Certificate 40 CFR pt.396.19 & Brake Inspection Certificate 49 CFR pt.396.25.
• Own and maintain up-to-date tools of the trade.
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of Reefer trailers and lift gates.
• Complete paperwork and inspection forms accurately and timely.
• Perform basic soldering and welding; use air-powered equipment.
• Maintain a safe working environment and clean shop.
• Inspect and repair brake, electrical, wheel end, liftgate, suspension, and load components.
• Diagnose and repair ABS systems.
• Carry out engine component repairs (excluding 608 refrigeration).
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; diagnose diesel engines.

Position Overview:

As a Fleet Maintenance “B” Technician you will be responsible for the ensuring the continued functionality and longevity of the tractors, trailers etc. within the Fleet Maintenance Department. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to performing routine and moderately complex maintenance and repairs. You will be responsible for ensuring all repairs are documented and aligned with OSHA – state and federal policies as well as company policies to drive a safe working environment and culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performing inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of Reefer trailers and lift gates – reporting to leadership for additional repairs
• Completing all necessary paperwork, equipment inspection forms, and other documents accurately and timely, using professional verbiage
• Performing basic soldering and welding skills
• Using air-powered equipment when necessary
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment including the facilities and service vehicles
• Inspect, diagnose, and replace all brake, electrical, wheel end, liftgate, suspension, and load support components
• Diagnose and repair ABS system
• Refer engine component repairs (excluding refrigeration unless a 608 certification is provided)
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair minor overhead door components
• Perform all duties with little to no supervision
• Inspect, diagnose, and replace all brake, electrical, wheel end, liftgate, suspension, and load support components
• Minor body repair, Inc. but not limited to panel replacement, side rail repair, and welding of steel and aluminum
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair all overhead door components
• Crossmember replacement
• Full Landing Gear removal and replacement
• Diagnose and repair ABS system
• All Refer engine component repairs
• Performing diagnostic tests on diesel engines and related systems
• Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
• Conducting repairs on engines, transmission systems, exhaust systems, brakes systems, hydraulic systems and electrical components
• Carrying out regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements and tire rotations
• Maintaining records of maintenance and repairs
• Replacing or repairing defective parts using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment
• Performing basic soldering and welding skills
• Using air powered equipment when necessary
• Assisting other technicians as needed, including mentoring less experienced team members
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment in the shop
• Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
• Work environment will vary with temperature
• Primarily in a shop environment with occasional outdoor work

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday
• 4:00am - 12:30pm

Compenstation:

• $30 - $35

Experience:

• Preferred: Three (3) - Five (5) years technical experience or related field – Automotive or Industrial Equipment
• Preferred: Federal Annual Inspection Certificate 40 CFR pt.396.19 & Brake Inspection Certificate 49 CFR pt. 396.25
• Own and Maintain up to date tools of the trade
• Preferred: Proficiency in English (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with associates and leadership

Skills:

• Physical abilities : May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift
