Overview:The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising a maintenance shop under the oversight of a Maintenance Manager. This role involves supervising technicians responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of a fleet, machinery supporting a post-collection facility, and equipment servicing the container shop. The supervisor ensures all repairs and maintenance of trucks (diesel and alternative fuels), containers, and heavy-duty equipment comply with safety standards and regulations. Planning and scheduling repair work to ensure safety and efficiency are key responsibilities.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide direction to technicians at all levels to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repairs and maintenance.
- Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Report performance metrics to management and recommend process improvements.
- Supervise shop technicians, conduct daily huddles, perform coaching, training, and performance evaluations, and participate in hiring and termination decisions.
- Inspect outside repairs for compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Identify training needs and discuss corrective actions with technicians.
- Conduct quality control inspections and oversee diagnostics on complex repairs, including road testing vehicles when necessary.
- Manage inventory and procurement within budget, reviewing expenses and escalating major costs.
- Maintain advanced technical knowledge to perform and oversee repairs on engines, emission systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and welding.
- Handle administrative tasks such as payroll, employee records, maintenance documentation, budgeting, and goal setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- ASE Certification and specialized automotive certifications (T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T2, T Master)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:- At least 3 years of maintenance experience with heavy equipment.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician or management role, with knowledge of safety, DOT, OSHA, and other regulations.
