Position Summary

The Ops Supervisor assists the Ops Manager/Sr. Ops Manager with the operations and personnel for a shift of a particular location. The Ops Supervisor may have supervisory duties of employees on a shift, including Technicians-In Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees. They must accomplish results and ensure business objectives and labor requirements are met while balancing financial, operating, quality, safety and asset targets against the requirements of the business. The Ops Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the customers' needs are being met while balancing financial, operating, quality, safety and asset targets against the requirements of the business. This position is responsible for the management of the location performance against metrics to meet and/or exceed assigned objectives. The Ops Supervisor will be cross‑functionally trained to backup others within the shop. As a Ryder shop position, the Ops Supervisor, or “Shift Supervisor”, adheres to all Ryder Maintenance Operations policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Workflow Management: responsible for work analysis, planning and scheduling, assigning work to technicians, productivity tracking and optimization, shift and shop meetings, RO review and approval; ensures all warranty policies and procedures are executed; triages unscheduled customer drive‑ins and communicates with customers; conducts yard checks for scheduling and prioritization.
  • Labor Management: provides management, training and development of all personnel assigned; responsible for performance management of all assigned personnel.
  • Customer Management: responsible for customer relationship management, issue resolution, customer satisfaction and retention, vehicle uptime, communications for PM scheduling, breakdowns and vehicle status updates; conducts customer visits per the Customer Care Plan.
  • Asset Management: directs direct reports in maintaining the appearance and maintenance of the location; evaluates tooling and equipment needs; assists with vehicle specs and in‑service/out‑service processes; ensures parts inventory management and policies.
  • Quality Management: responsible for quality inspections of PM and repairs, in‑process reviews of non‑PM work; performs breakdown root‑cause analysis, implements corrective actions; maintains cleanliness and quality of repairs; collaborates with Service Manager on technician training and TOPS planning; manages Quality Assurance audit corrective actions and continuous improvement; ensures compliance with safety and EPA regulations.
  • Financial Management: ensures shift/shop delivers against Net Maintenance Cost per Unit objectives; controls maintenance operations budget and location P&L; executes maintenance initiatives; manages payroll, purchase order approval, invoice and fuel reconciliation; oversees customer bill‑back process and documentation; ensures data integrity in the Shop Management Online system.

Skills and Abilities
  • Professional representation of Ryder and competent interaction with customer management.
  • Strong vehicle diagnostics/repair knowledge (preferred).
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (preferred).
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred or 1‑3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment required; demonstrated success in a Ryder role may be substituted.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 1‑3 years of experience in a maintenance operations environment required; demonstrated success in a Ryder role may be substituted.
  • Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with a Shop Management System preferred.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred.
Compensation Information

Compensation may be influenced by experience, education, location, market data, internal equity, and internal salary ranges. The position may also qualify for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long‑term incentive plan depending on level.
