Job summary

Riggs Tree Service, LLC. is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance, repair, compliance, and operational readiness of our growing fleet.

Based in our Fleet Operations, this role travels to regional facilities as needed and reports to leadership overseeing field operations. You will develop preventive maintenance programs, supervise a team of mechanics, and manage parts inventory, maintenance budgets, and vendor coordination to minimize downtime while ensuring

• Proven fleet management, vehicle maintenance, or heavy‑equipment maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet maintenance and repair operations for trucks, aerial lifts, chippers, stump grinders, crane trucks, and other heavy equipment.
• Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs.
• Schedule and oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and complex repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, gasoline, and diesel system issues.
• Lead, train, mentor, and develop mechanics and technicians.

At Riggs Tree Service, our crews depend on safe, reliable vehicles and equipment to get the job done every day. We're looking for an experienced, hands‑on Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance, repair, compliance, and operational readiness of our growing fleet.

What You'll Do

As our Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will:

• Lead fleet maintenance and repair operations for trucks, aerial lifts/bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, crane trucks, and other heavy equipment
• Develop and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs
• Schedule and oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and complex repairs
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, gasoline, and diesel system issues
• Lead, train, mentor, and develop mechanics and technicians
• Prioritize repairs based on safety, operational needs, crew schedules, and equipment availability
• Manage parts, supplies, and critical‑component inventory to minimize equipment downtime
• Monitor fleet performance, including equipment uptime, maintenance costs, repair trends, and fuel consumption
• Manage the fleet maintenance budget and identify cost‑saving opportunities
• Coordinate specialized repairs and services with outside vendors
• Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, repair, and compliance records
• Ensure fleet maintenance operations meet company, DOT, OSHA, ANSI, manufacturer, and other applicable requirements
• Assist with equipment purchasing, replacement, rental, and disposal decisions
• Support fleet readiness during emergency and storm restoration operations

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

• Proven fleet management, vehicle maintenance, or heavy‑equipment maintenance experience
• Strong hands‑on mechanical and diagnostic knowledge
• Experience with diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy‑duty equipment
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Ability to manage multiple maintenance priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving abilities
• Experience with fleet management software and maintenance reporting
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurable driving status
• Experience with utility, forestry, tree‑care, construction, or heavy‑equipment fleets preferred
• Experience with aerial lifts/bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, and crane trucks preferred
• CDL or ability to obtain preferred
