XPO Logistics Freight Inc. in Columbus, OH is seeking a Shop Manager to lead the fleet maintenance team across multiple service centers. You’ll oversee hiring, mentoring, scheduling, training, and performance management to ensure high uptime and reliable equipment.

Qualifications

• 5 years of fleet maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Preferred ASE certifications.
• Preferred CDL.
• LTL experience.
• Willing to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to lead and motivate others.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance team employees and contingent workers, including hiring, mentoring, scheduling, training/development, and promotion/discipline decisions.
• Oversee maintenance and out-of-service equipment at service centers supported by the shop.
• Facilitate Job Selection/Shift Bid process for shop staff.
• Oversee routine maintenance to maximize uptime and ensure work orders are completed on time.
• Manage shop inventory and ensure accurate cycle counts and thresholds.
• Analyze parts utilization, uptime and shortages to maximize efficiency.
• Monitor safety, service quality, efficiency and maintenance compliance.
• Ensure adherence to DOT policies and standard work instructions.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Handle maintenance team employees and contingent workers, including hiring, mentoring, scheduling, training/development, as well as offering promotion, discipline and termination recommendations
• Support teammates in overseeing equipment maintenance and out-of-service equipment at outlying Service Centers supported by the shop
• Facilitate the Job Selection/Shift Bid (JSP) process for shop employees
• Oversee routine maintenance functions to ensure equipment proficiency and the highest productivity levels; ensure all work orders, including commercial work orders, are closed accurately and on time
• Ensure shop cycle counts and inventory levels are handled correctly, including movement and non-movement of inventory within assigned thresholds
• Review and analyze trends in parts utilization, gains, shortages, usage, uptime and non-movement, in a way that ensures the highest efficiency and productivity of the shop
• Monitor shop for safety, service, quality, efficiency, financial controls and maintenance compliance
• Ensure company procedures, DOT policies and other required standard work instructions are followed by all shop employees

Shop Managers are required to:

• Lift 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Work outdoors in inclement weather

Annual Salary Range: $95,340 to $119,175. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set.
In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for a sign-on bonus, annual and long-term incentive awards, and an equity buyout award. This is an incentive-based position, which may include bonuses, incentive or commission plans.
