Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 143,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.

Summary:

This position focuses on the day-to-day maintenance and operation of aerial devices (bucket trucks, derrick trucks, cranes, backyard machines, etc.) in the Oncor Fleet. The incumbent operates in a field service format – covering roughly a 100 square mile area where these aerial devices are located, including making repairs or inspections at the field locations. Each employee in this category utilizes an Oncor issued field service truck to carry tools, parts, and supplies to the various locations to maintain these aerial devices. Each employee has responsibility for approximately 150 aerial devices in their respective areas.

This position is primarily responsible for supporting hydraulic equipment across a region of Decatur, Wichita Falls, Graham, Gainesville, Frisco, and North Fort Worth. Additional business needs may arise, requiring support in other territories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Able to read and understand hydraulic schematics
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Diagnose maintenance requirements on aerial devices to determine needed repairs
  • Perform inspections on aerial devices and the hydraulic systems used to power those units
  • Perform repairs to aerial devices and the hydraulic systems used to power those units as a result of the inspections
  • Verify that repairs are successful by visual and operational tests on each unit after the repairs are complete
  • Effectively communicate the repairs made and results to the client / users
  • Provide feedback on specifications and equipment to management and supervision for future changes or modifications
  • Timely Response to after work hours phone calls requiring potential repairs either over the phone or on-site, as needed
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements
  • Primarily responsible for supporting hydraulic equipment across a region of Decatur, Wichita Falls, Graham, Gainesville, Frisco, and North Fort Worth. Additional business needs may arise, requiring support in other territories.

Skills:

  • An understanding of the basic ANSI regulations associated with insulated aerial device operation desired
  • Incumbent must be able to work with a minimum of supervision at various field locations across the Oncor system
  • Good communication skills required to advise users regarding issues with aerial devices and the correct repair procedures processes
  • Able to perform D/C Dielectric testing using Von C series 100KV or Phenix 4100-10 tester Machine is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • High school education, GED, or equivalent required
  • Extensive knowledge of hydraulic systems / power fluid theory as it applies to the maintenance and operation of hydraulic aerial devices and associated equipment is required
  • Fluid Power Society certification encouraged to apply

Travel:

Up to 25%

  • Aerial devices operate with a minimum of down time
  • All aerial device maintenance is complete and up to date
  • Client / user feedback and satisfaction level is good
  • Responsive communication to all stakeholders (internal and external)
