Job summary

Lezzer Lumber seeks a dedicated heavy equipment/truck technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain our fleet and equipment. You will work under the shop leader, perform testing and troubleshooting, and generate clear repair orders while keeping a safe, organized workspace.

Preferred candidates have 1 year of relevant experience, basic computer skills, and a valid PA driver’s license. Some overtime and travel for mobile maintenance may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience as a heavy equipment or truck technician preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in repairing mobile equipment.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Construction operation knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment used to repair equipment.
  • Must follow instructions and Lezzer Lumber policies and procedures.
  • Must have a valid PA driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge in troubleshooting techniques, hydraulics, powertrain, machine electronics, cutting and welding processes, and fuel systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, adjust, repair and maintain mobile equipment.
  • Safely operate equipment for testing and diagnosis.
  • Generate repair work orders promptly and accurately.
  • Communicate with Shop Leader about equipment and projects.
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area and tools.
  • Occasionally work beyond 40 hours per week and travel for mobile maintenance, including overnights.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed.

Summary:

Performs a variety of tasks in the shop including inspecting, diagnosing, adjusting, repairing and maintaining the following: equipment; transportation vehicles including cars, light and medium trailers & forklifts. Will work with direct supervision of shop leader. Standard work schedule is Mon - Fri, 7 am - 4 pm, or as needed on emergency basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding all system failures on mobile equipment.
  • Safely operate equipment for diagnosing and testing purposes.
  • Accurately generate in a timely manner all repair work orders.
  • Proactively communicate with Shop Leader concerning equipment and job-related projects.
  • Maintain safe and organized work area.
  • Perform cleanup at end of day or when job is completed, including cleaning tools and putting tools in proper storage.
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
  • Sometimes required to work more than 40 hours per week and on non-traditional hours including Saturdays and be willing to travel to locations for mobile maintenance, including some overnights as needed.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Qualifications
  • Applicant must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prefer one year of experience as a heavy equipment or truck technician.
  • Basic knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in repairing and maintaining mobile equipment.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of construction operation preferred.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment used to repair equipment.
  • Must take and follow instructions.
  • Ability to learn and follow Lezzer Lumber policies and procedures.
  • Must have a valid PA driver’s license with acceptable driving record per minimum company standards for drivers.
  • Must have some knowledge and competency in each of the following: troubleshooting techniques, hydraulic principles and systems power and drive train principles, machine electronics, cutting and welding processes, fuel systems.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Ability to work with fuel and other petroleum products.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb on and off equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in shop or field environment and tolerate exposure to dust, welding and exhaust fumes, cold temperatures, noise and confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
