Job summary

Lezzer Lumber seeks a Delivery Supervisor at the Stockertown, PA location to lead a team of CDL and non-CDL drivers and coordinate daily delivery schedules for customers and job sites. Role requires supervisory experience, knowledge of DOT regulations, and a strong focus on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to relate combined delivery orders to geographical areas and time frames for delivery.
  • Ability to perform basic math to calculate board footage and load weights.
  • Two to four years’ experience in industry-related delivery, dispatching, or supervisory functions.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and ability to comply.
  • Knowledge of lumber and building materials.
  • Knowledge of delivery methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrates ability to obtain forklift operator’s certification.
  • Demonstrates superior customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates delivery requests from customers and location staff to schedule equipment and delivery personnel.
  • Coordinates vendor merchandise and customer jobsite pickups within the delivery schedule.
  • Processes customer backorders and maintains location backorder files.
  • Coordinates and schedules the delivery of backorders as merchandise becomes available.
  • Invoices all delivery orders ensuring accuracy of orders and invoices.
  • Oversees daily preventative maintenance checks on delivery vehicles.
  • Reports accidents, injuries and incidents to management.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the location as scheduled.

Summary:

Utilizes a predetermined delivery schedule system to routinely schedule all deliveries and vendor/jobsite pickups. Supervises a staff of drivers including CDL Class A, Boom, and non-CDL drivers to meet the needs of the delivery schedules while increasing the productivity of the drivers and the delivery fleet and meeting or exceeding the customer service standards of the location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinates delivery requests from customers and location staff to schedule available equipment andelivery personal to specified delivery requirements and customer service commitments.
  • Coordinates vendor merchandise and customer jobsite pick-ups within the delivery schedule.
  • Processes customer backorders and maintains the location backorder files.
  • Coordinates and schedules the delivery of backorders as merchandise becomes available.
  • Invoices all delivery orders ensuring the accuracy of the orders and invoices.
  • Works with location staff to coordinate short-lead delivery requests.
  • Oversees the daily preventative maintenance checks on delivery vehicles following company guidelines.
  • Coordinates the assignment of load bunking duties with the Yard Manager.
  • Immediately reports all accidents, injuries and incidents of damage to merchandise, physical plant and equipment and customer property to the Assistant Manager or Location Manager.
  • Knows and practices safe and proper lifting, carrying, and material maneuvering practices.
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the location as scheduled.
  • Responsible to start the nightly business run on the in-store system.
