Job Summary

As a Field Technician I, II, or III, you will install, maintain, and upgrade telecommunications equipment and supporting infrastructure on broadcast and communication sites that do not require elevated work beyond bucket trucks or aerial lifts. This role supports AC/DC power systems, battery systems, transmission lines, and fiber optic systems while ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality installations. Field Technicians contribute directly to network reliability, infrastructure expansion, and customer satisfaction through technical expertise and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities (Including, But Not Limited To)
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, wiring schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Install telecommunications cables, connectors, and supporting infrastructure with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot system issues using specialized test equipment and document findings.
  • Work with AC and DC electrical systems, battery systems, fiber optics, and transmission lines.
  • Operate test equipment including antenna alignment tools, RET controllers, PIM testers, fiber testers, and sweep gear.
  • Operate Capstan Hoists safely and heavy equipment needed for jobsite preparation.
  • Maintain company vehicles, trailers, tools, and test equipment in a safe and professional working condition.
  • Ensure compliance with Job Safety Analysis (JSA), safety protocols, and site cleanliness standards.
  • Support crew safety initiatives and uphold Congruex quality standards.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required or ability to obtain.
  • DOT Medical Card required.
  • First Aid/CPR certification required.
  • OSHA 30 Construction Industry certification required.
  • NFPA70e Electrical Training required.
  • Additional required certifications include RF Safety Awareness, Bloodborne Pathogens, Aerial Lift Safety, Forklift Safety, Excavation Safety, Battery Safety, GHS Hazcom, Crane Spotter/Signal Person, Confined Space, Excavator Operator, Skid Steer Operator, Capstan Operator, and Traffic Control.
Experience
  • Field Technician I: 0-2 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, electrical systems, or field service work. Requires minimal supervision.
  • Field Technician II: Demonstrated mastery of Field Technician I responsibilities and ability to work independently without supervision. Capable of training junior technicians.
  • Field Technician III: Advanced mastery of all Field Technician duties, ability to train Field Technician I/II and Laborers, and cross‑trained in at least one other field discipline (e.g., Tower Technician or Civil Technician).
Skills And Abilities
  • Strong understanding of telecom construction practices, procedures, tools, and materials.
  • Competency in reading construction drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, breaker ampacity, grounding techniques, and NEC standards.
  • Ability to terminate CAT5e/CAT6, JMA, and LMR connectors.
  • Competency in fiber optic testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Ability to perform Exothermic Welding and cable labeling per carrier standards.
  • Strong time management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
  • Ability to travel to remote job sites (10‑25%).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework or certifications in Basic Electrical Theory, Telecommunications Fundamentals, Fiber Optic Technician Certification (ETA or FOA), or DC Power Systems Training.
  • Hands‑on experience with DC Powerplants, battery systems, AC electrical systems, transmission lines, and fiber optics.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and remote locations.
  • Ability to load and unload tools and equipment safely.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
  • Must maintain visual and audible awareness of crew, vehicles, and equipment for safe coordination.
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors, including exposure to inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a pre‑employment background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
