Job description

Are you an experienced maintenance leader with expertise across fleet, facilities, refrigeration, and material-handling equipment? This could be an exciting opportunity to lead a complex, high-volume operation with Sysco.

We are seeking a Fleet & Facility Maintenance Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across our facility infrastructure, commercial fleet, refrigeration systems, powered industrial equipment, and maintenance operations. This is a highly visible leadership role focused on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, safety, regulatory compliance, cost management, and operational excellence.

What You'll Lead

  • Oversee fleet, facility, refrigeration, and material-handling equipment (MHE) maintenance operations.

  • Lead preventive maintenance programs designed to improve equipment reliability and minimize operational downtime.

  • Provide oversight of ammonia refrigeration systems, HVAC, electrical systems, dock equipment, fire protection, security systems, and building infrastructure.

  • Ensure the safety and operational readiness of the commercial/diesel fleet and powered industrial equipment.

  • Lead and develop maintenance teams while driving accountability, engagement, and performance.

  • Manage third-party contractors and vendor relationships across fleet, facilities, security, janitorial, and other maintenance services.

  • Oversee departmental budgets, expenses, capital requests, assets, and cost-reduction initiatives.

  • Utilize maintenance/CMMS systems to manage preventive maintenance, work orders, and equipment performance.

  • Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, food safety, PSM/EPSM, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with Safety on inspections, training, accident investigations, root-cause analysis, and emergency preparedness.

  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reduce costs, increase equipment uptime, and support overall operational performance.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of maintenance management experience in a complex operational environment.

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Strong experience in fleet and facility maintenance.

  • Knowledge of ammonia/industrial refrigeration systems.

  • Experience with HVAC, electrical systems, preventive maintenance, and powered industrial equipment.

  • Knowledge of OSHA/DOT compliance and PSM/EPSM requirements.

  • Experience managing budgets, capital projects, vendors, and maintenance-related expenses.

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop maintenance teams.

  • Strong problem-solving, operational, and continuous-improvement skills.

Why This Opportunity?

This is much more than a traditional facility maintenance position. You'll have the opportunity to lead multiple critical functions that directly impact the safety, reliability, productivity, and financial performance of a large-scale food distribution operation.

If you are a proven maintenance leader who understands how to balance people, equipment reliability, safety, compliance, and business results, we'd love to hear from you.
