Job summary

Shasta College is seeking substitute/temporary drivers to transport students on field trips and designated routes. You will operate district buses and vans, ensuring safety and on-time arrival, with potential overnight stays and travel.

Responsibilities include basic vehicle maintenance, daily logs, and coordinating with the Motor Pool. A valid CDL with passenger endorsement is required, with state-mandated certifications pursued within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Valid unrestricted Class A or B CDL with passenger endorsement.
• No airbrake restriction.
• Experience in auto and small engine repair; heavy duty repair training.
• Enrollment in the district drug/alcohol testing program; DMV pull notice program.
• Medical Certificate, CPR, and bus certificate within 150 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport students on field trips and routes; overnight stays may be required.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on district vehicles when needed.
• Complete logs and reports; use ELD to record driving hours.
• Assist the Motor Pool Mechanic/Foreperson with inspections and servicing.
• Follow safety rules and district policies while operating vehicles.
• Operate buses and vans, and other district equipment as required.
