Job Summary
Leads the safe and efficient operations of the Border States fleet, including driver performance and coaching, truck routing and dispatch, timely and safe delivery of customer material, preventative and corrective maintenance of fleet assets and material handling equipment, and ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the maintenance and safe operations of all delivery vehicles, forklifts, Moffetts, and trailers in accordance with company policies and government standards.
- Ensures all drivers meet licensing and medical requirements, including CDL requirements for vehicles above 26,000 lbs.
- Maintains current driver qualification records to satisfy regulatory requirements.
- Leads driver coaching on safe driving using current technologies and facilitates safety training.
- Ensures drivers follow North American Cargo Securement Standards on all loads.
- Works with warehouse leaders on delivery routes and scheduling, managing route optimization tools and dispatching strategies.
- Establishes and maintains vehicle, trailer, and forklift maintenance records.
- Oversees contracted maintenance for fleet assets.
- Analyzes delivery services to provide cost-effective solutions, including decisions on fleet vs. carrier delivery.
- Maintains relationships with third-party carriers and delivery partners.
- Manages inbound freight schedules with vendor partners.
- Oversees transportation and monitoring of fleet assets at customer sites.
Non-essential Functions
- Collaborates with other driver supervisors to drive standardization and best practices.
- Supports delivery expense forecasting.
- Coordinates warehouse services projects.
- Participates in driver leadership training events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Two-year business/trade degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years of supervisory and transportation fleet management experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- Industry certifications like CDL training, ELDT, and Defensive Driving preferred.
- Experience with fleet technologies required.
- Warehouse management and forklift experience preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical products a plus.
- English language skills preferred.
- Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Office, Internet, Email, and SAP preferred.
