North America Central School Bus is hiring a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair school buses and fleet vehicles in Illinois. You will perform diagnostics, tune engines, manage parts inventory, and mentor junior technicians to ensure safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience in diesel engine repair and vehicle maintenance.
• Familiarity with FMCSA and DOT safety standards.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Leadership skills and willingness to train others.
• Technical certification or ASE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and overhaul school buses and fleet vehicles per FMCSA guidelines.
• Champion the adoption of EV maintenance practices and technology.
• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance.
• Tune engines, align wheels, and maintain electrical systems to meet DOT standards.
• Replace worn parts, change filters, and perform oiling/greasing.
• Test drive vehicles post-repair to ensure safety and performance.
• Conduct minor bodywork and repainting as needed.
• Track parts usage, manage inventory, and order supplies.
• Report safety concerns and corrective actions.
• Mentor junior technicians and assist where needed.
