Job summary

Zūm is seeking an experienced Technician I to diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of vehicles across multiple systems. You will perform safety inspections to meet DOT standards and ensure vehicles are safe and reliable for student transportation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fleet experience in Diesel, Heavy/Med duty fleets.
• Minimum of five years Auto/Truck or Bus mechanical repair experience.
• Experience with DOT compliance for Med/Heavy Trucks.
• Computer proficiency for fleet management systems and documentation.
• Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Medium/Heavy Duty and Diesel Technician.
• Strong experience with computerized diagnostics.
• Ability to use good judgment and decision‑making skills.
• Background in planning and scheduling maintenance repairs (Daily, Weekly, Monthly).
• Willingness to work flexible schedules.
• Preferred: Valid CDL License; ASE Certification in brakes/suspension/engine/electrical/A/C.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs including steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drivetrains, suspensions, clutches, transmissions.
• Adjust, test, and rebuild engines and related duties per guidelines.
• Test drives during Preventative Maintenance inspections to identify issues and verify repairs.
• Install, program, replace and verify telematic devices.
• Perform preventive and unscheduled maintenance and road calls as needed.
• Record time spent, parts used and repairs on work tablet or forms.
• Maintain safe work area and comply with DOT and company safety standards.
