Job summary

Southern Tire Mart in Meridian, MS is seeking a diesel mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers. You will perform PM inspections, service brakes, drivetrains, HVAC, electrical systems, and tire-related tasks, while maintaining detailed records and complying with DOT regulations.

The role requires a high school diploma, prior diesel/mechanic experience, and the ability to lift up to 250 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification a plus.
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic or fleet technician preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment up to 250 lbs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair brakes, drivetrains, HVAC, electrical systems on semi-trucks and trailers.
• Perform PM inspections and routine fleet maintenance.
• Operate diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct tire services and TPMS maintenance.
• Maintain detailed service records and comply with DOT regulations.
• Respond to roadside service calls as needed.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
