Job Description

Fleet Deckhand – Jeffersonville, IN

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Position Summary:

• ADM is seeking a laborer to work as a deckhand under the direction of a Captain on a tug boat at our American River Transportation Company (ARTCo) fleeting location in Jeffersonville, IN.

Job Responsibilities:

• General housekeeping and vessel upkeep, including washing, chipping, painting, and cleaning.
• Perform tow work, including rigging and building tow for Lineboats.
• Prepare barges for delivery to local customers.
• Assist barge cleaners, mechanics, and welders as needed.
• Assist the captain with vessel reports in compliance with environmental, safety, and USCG regulations, and report issues or damages.
• Report injuries, illnesses, and near misses promptly.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to follow instructions and execute tasks under supervision.
• Inland waterway decking experience preferred but not required.
• Basic reading and writing skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in various climates.

• Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Current TWIC card required; apply within 5 days if not possessed.

• Pass a pre-employment physical exam.

• Work near water, at heights, and in confined spaces.

Pay varies based on experience and market factors. Overtime pay applies for qualifying hours.
