Qualifications

  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Complete health questionnaire and pass physical abilities test.
  • Ability to carry an 80lb wire for 200 feet without stopping.
  • Must work in inclement weather.
  • Basic understanding of navigation and safety procedures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Join our team at American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) as a Fleet Deckhand with the unique advantage of going home every night.As a deckhand, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels. We offer a work schedule that allows you to spend time at home while contributing to a thriving maritime environment.Must live within 50 miles of the fleet and possess a valid driver's license.

Your Role:As a Fleet Deckhand, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the safe loading and unloading of cargo.
  • Handling rigging during barge tow building, locking, and docking activities.
  • Performing basic vessel maintenance such as painting, cleaning, and changing oil and filters.
  • Ensuring the safety of team members and cargo by inspecting and correcting conditions.
  • Contributing to a positive work environment through teamwork and communication.

What We Are Looking For...

You will need to have:

  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain required Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
