Job summary

Ingram Marine Group is seeking a Fleet Boat Captain for the St. Louis, MO fleets. The role involves steering vessels along the river, ensuring crew safety, and coordinating tow-building operations.

A requirement is living within an hour radius due to scheduling. You will be responsible for safe navigation, supervising the crew, and maintaining environmental safety while performing duties in a fast-paced riverine setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates Ingram Way and upholds high safety standards.
• 8+ years of experience.
• MMC; SCI/CEMS training; TWIC or state ID required.
• Proven leadership abilities.
• Able to navigate the river where work takes place.
• Experience handling a large tow safely.
• Ability to supervise and direct a team and communicate effectively.
• Able to apply basic critical-thinking and decision-making to tow building and locking.

Responsibilities

• Keep the crew safe.
• Move tow and build tows.
• Ensure safe navigation and operation of the vessel.
• Efficiently manage the crew and vessel.
• Safely handle and maintain equipment.
• Protect the environment and follow safety policies.
• Steer tow up and down the river.
• Coordinate locks and bridges.
• Conduct safety meetings and drills.
