Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking an Auto/Diesel Technician - Fleet Maintenance in Suwanee, GA to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on school buses and diesel vehicles.

You will follow service checklists, document work, manage tools and parts, and coordinate with staff to determine maintenance needs. CDL with P&S endorsements and ASE certifications are required or pursued, with on-site shifts including potential on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with School Bus Passenger and School (P&S) endorsements; required within 180 days
• ASE certification for S4 School Bus Brakes and T8 Truck Preventive Maintenance within 1 year; required
• S7 School Bus Air Conditioning Systems & Controls certification preferred
• HS diploma or GED required
• Automotive/diesel service technician training at an accredited technical school preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance services and safety inspections per standards
• Document labor, parts, and supplies on maintenance work orders
• Inspect vehicles using checklists and document results
• Perform corrective maintenance and repairs per procedures
• Research manuals, service bulletins, diagrams, and parts catalogs
• Maintain tool chest and inventory of hand tools
• Work night shift and on-call duties as required
• Maintain positive relationships with GCPS staff and customers
• Obtain and maintain ASE certification and CDL with P&S endorsements
