Job summary

MS Metal Solutions is seeking a Flat Laser Operator to set up, operate, and maintain flat laser cutting machines for metal parts. This role demands precision, safety, and attention to production targets in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include following blueprints, inspecting finished parts for accuracy, performing routine machine maintenance, and collaborating with the team to optimize workflows and reduce waste.

Qualifications

  • Some manufacturing experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn and develop skills.
  • Able to perform basic readings with calipers for dimensional analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical specifications is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and adherence to safety procedures.

  • Set up and operate flat laser cutting machines to cut metal sheets according to production specifications and blueprints.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and conformance to design specifications, making adjustments to equipment as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laser machines, including cleaning lenses, replacing nozzles, and lubricating parts to maintain optimal performance.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues such as misalignment, material feed problems, or laser output inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with production team members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient scheduling of laser cutting tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production runs, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures, including proper handling of materials and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize laser cutting processes and reduce material waste.
  • Assist in training new operators or team members on flat laser cutting operations and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other departments to address production issues and meet project deadlines.
  • Train team members on technical job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support production goals.

Position Summary

The Flat Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining flat laser cutting machines to produce high-quality metal parts. What You'll Do

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and welding fumes.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Identify and report quality, material, or equipment issues to supervisors.
  • Meet daily production goals while maintaining high workmanship standards.
