Responsibilities
- Design, development and qualification of holding fixtures for advanced fire protection and overheat detection systems.
- Craft and develop tooling that improves the capability and efficiency of the production process.
- Design and develop tooling for machining processes.
- Lead fixture manufacture; collaborate with suppliers, management, purchasing, and logistics to obtain quotations and realize fixture repairs.
- Develop work instructions, procedures, key cards, and related engineering and manufacturing documentation for fixture and gauge design, use and build.
- Apply a standardized approach to tool and fixture designs in a SolidWorks and PLM environment.
- Collaborate with WSC manufacturing engineers, production, quality to ensure tooling meets performance expectations and production needs.
- Project leadership of tooling engineering projects, managing scheduling, experimentation, reporting, documentation, due dates, results, and costs.
- Lead tooling projects through all phases, from conception and R&D to qualification, production implementation, and continued production support.
- Lead continuous process improvements (analysis, solution finding, implementation) around tool design and use processes and methods.
- Work with production personnel to implement, solve, and improve fixtures and gauges and their associated processes.
- Collaborate with management, product engineering, peer engineers, and operators to realize high‑quality, stable processes and provide data and documentation for product process qualifications, work instructions, and manufacturing quality control plans.
Required Qualifications
- BS degree and 6 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline; or associate’s degree with 9 years of experience or equivalent experience.
- GD&T knowledge.
- Parametric model definition tools of SolidWorks and assembly modeling with inter‑part linking.
- Experience identifying, analyzing, and correcting fixture issues.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Pay Range
$72,000 to $75,000 per year.
Work Requirements
- Must be able to commute to and from the location with own transportation arrangements to meet required working hours.
- Shop floor environment may include extensive walking and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
