Job description

We are seeking a Fixture Design Project Lead to support retail fixture development and implementation for a large-scale retail environment. This position blends project management, vendor coordination, fixture design knowledge, and hands‑on problem solving to move projects from initial concept and prototype through production and store implementation.

The ideal candidate understands how retail fixtures are designed, manufactured, tested, and installed and is comfortable coordinating multiple projects, vendors, and deadlines at once. This role will work closely with internal teams and external manufacturing partners to ensure fixtures meet design intent, quality expectations, functionality requirements, and project timelines.

What You'll Do
  • Manage fixture‑related projects from development and prototyping through production and implementation
  • Coordinate with fixture manufacturers and suppliers to keep project schedules, milestones, and deliverables on track
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, including manufacturing processes, materials, finishes, quality practices, logistics, and production lead times
  • Review manufacturer drawings, renderings, specifications, prototypes, and assembly documentation for accuracy and constructability
  • Provide clear direction and feedback to vendors and follow up on open items through project meetings, reviews, and written recaps
  • Support the development and refinement of assembly instructions and manufacturing documentation
  • Partner with internal teams on fixture needs related to new stores, remodels, refreshes, and other retail initiatives
  • Participate in prototype and sample reviews to evaluate fixture appearance, function, durability, and production quality
  • Help identify potential design, manufacturing, quality, or scheduling issues and work with the appropriate teams to resolve them
  • Support fixture testing and quality inspections using appropriate measurement and evaluation techniques
  • Assist with vendor onboarding and evaluation as new manufacturing resources are considered
  • Maintain organized project information, documentation, samples, and fixture inventory
  • Participate in store visits and project reviews as needed to confirm production fixtures remain consistent with approved designs and prototypes
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in business, retail, design, engineering, or a related discipline preferred
  • 1–3+ years of experience within retail, fixture/furniture manufacturing, store development, design, or a related environment
  • Experience supporting or managing fixture, furniture, millwork, product development, or manufacturing projects
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to read and evaluate technical drawings, manufacturer drawings, renderings, and specifications
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, finishes, and quality control practices
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organization and follow-through
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills, particularly when working with vendors and cross‑functional teams
  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects and deliverables
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Photoshop, CAD/CAM, or similar design/project tools is a plus
  • Knowledge of structural design, building codes, failure analysis, or another technical discipline is beneficial but not required
Hands‑On Requirements

This isn't a strictly desk‑based project management position. The person in this role should be comfortable working directly with retail fixtures and prototypes, including measuring, inspecting, assembling, disassembling, and repositioning fixture components when needed.

The position may require lifting and moving items up to approximately 35 lbs. and using common hand or power tools and measurement equipment during prototype reviews and fixture evaluations.

Limited travel may be required.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

You'll do well in this position if you're someone who can own a project, stay ahead of details, communicate clearly with vendors, and understand how a design translates into a physical product. We're looking for someone who can spot potential issues early, keep multiple moving pieces organized, and help drive fixture projects through completion without sacrificing quality.
