Job summary

Apollo MedFlight is seeking a skilled pilot to join our EMS transport team in Amarillo, TX. You will fly critical care missions, ensuring timely, safe transport for patients while upholding high aviation standards.

The role offers a $60,000 sign-on/retention bonus, a 14 on / 14 off schedule for work-life balance, and comfortable on/off duty housing options. Float between FW bases as needed to meet operations.

Qualifications

  • Current FAA 2nd Class Medical Certificate.
  • 500 hours of multi-engine.
  • 1000 hours of PIC time.
  • 350 hours of turbine time.
  • ATP is required within 5 years of employment.
  • Previous EMS Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Retain the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft.
  • Ensure the aircraft is airworthy and documents are on board.
  • Make decisions to accept, reject, or terminate a flight as conditions dictate.
  • Adhere to Crew Resource Management techniques.
  • Represent Apollo MedFlight to vendors, employees and patients through actions and communication.
  • Participate in the Apollo Safety Management System.
  • Brief on flight purpose, weather, procedures and special instructions; plan flight assignments.
  • Ensure weather and performance meet applicable FAR requirements.
  • Follow approved flight locating procedures and ensure weight/balance compliance.
  • Report FAA violations or incidents to Chief Pilot.
  • Ensure aircraft equipment checks are performed properly.

A day in the life:
  • Retain the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft
  • Ensure the assigned aircraft is airworthy and all proper documents are on board the aircraft.
  • Make decisions as necessary to accept, reject, or terminate the flight, or deviation from a planned destination when operating conditions dictate.
  • Adhere to proper Crew Resource Management (CRM) techniques
  • Positively represent Apollo MedFlight and its customers to vendors, employees and patients through action, behavior, and communication.
  • Actively participate in the Apollo Safety Management System.
  • Obtain briefing on the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, and any special instructions, and plans flight assignments.
  • Ensure that weather and aircraft performance conditions can be met appropriate to the FAR under which the flight is being conducted.
  • Ensure a flight plan or other authorized flight locating procedure is followed on each flight.
  • Ensure the aircraft is within the weight and balance requirements of the applicable Flight Manual.
  • Report all known or suspected FAA violations or incidents promptly to the Chief Pilot.
  • Ensure all aircraft equipment checks are performed properly.
  • Ensure that all medical crew members and passengers are appropriately briefed for each phase of flight.
  • Ensure all maintenance discrepancies are reported to appropriate maintenance personnel, and Apollo Operational Control Center is alerted to the current status of the aircraft.
  • Be thoroughly knowledgeable of the General Operations Manual, Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, and other instructions and regulatory documents pertinent to assigned duties.
  • Participate in the pre-flight risk assessment process.
  • Responsible for Tier Two operational control functions.
  • This position will float between FW bases as required by operational needs.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current FAA 2 nd Class Medical Certificate
  • 500 hours of multi-engine
  • 1000 hours of PIC time
  • 350 hours of turbine time
  • Other considerations
    • ATP
    • Previous EMS Experience
  • ATP is required within 5 years of employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2500 hours total time
  • 700 hours of multi-engine flight time
  • 1200 hours of PIC time
  • 100 hours in type
