Job description

Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art machine-learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For more than a decade, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying machine learning to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future.

Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in machine learning research as well as highly experienced technology and finance professionals. The people who shape our company come from other backgrounds, too, including concert music performances, humanitarian aid, opera singing, sports writing, and BMX racing. You will be part of a team that loves to succeed together.

In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more.

As a Fixed Income Operations Analyst, you will have an integral role in the trade operations support for Voleon's broker-dealer entity. You will be responsible for managing workflows related to corporate actions, settlements, and reconciliations. In addition to supporting daily operations, you will support complex cross-functional growth projects and initiatives to scale Voleon's infrastructure. You will be a part of the Fund Operations team and collaborate closely with talented colleagues across research, trading, and accounting. You will report directly to the Fund Operations Manager and have opportunities to work with the CFO. This role is a means to make a difference: you will be a core member of our daily credit operations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee fixed income pre and post-trade settlement operations including trade exceptions, inquiries, allocations, fails resolution, and position transfers.
  • Project manage corporate actions including conducting research, evaluating information, and liaising with traders on elections and liabilities.
  • Maintain and summarize an internal workboard utilized by traders, research, and software engineering teams through communication channels and cross-functional reviews.
  • Perform reconciliation of internal books with the prime broker and fund administrator.
  • Work with the Fund Accounting Team to ensure all activity is properly recorded and documented, including collaboration on cash reconciliation and trial balance.
  • Improve the quality and efficiency of workflows through automation initiatives.
  • Support projects including broker onboardings, restructures, and account setups.
  • Support team cross-training initiatives, workflow reviews, and coverage plans.
  • Connect periodically with service providers to identify efficiencies and review updates to policies and internal control standards.
  • Develop and improve new and existing policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of finance experience, ideally in a fixed-income role or other middle office role at a hedge fund, prime broker, or fund administrator.
  • Ability to work from 7 AM PST.
  • Advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with or the ability to learn enterprise-level accounting software and develop efficient processes.
  • Experience automating manual processes (preferred).
  • Experience working for a broker-dealer, and simple accounting for monthly-close (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or Accounting (preferred).
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
