SMBC Group is hiring a Vice President in the Legal Department to support the Trade Transaction Management group. The role focuses on supporting the bank’s fixed income trading and derivatives documentation, especially repurchase agreements.

You will draft, review and negotiate master agreements and related documents, liaise with internal stakeholders, and advise the business on complex terms. A hybrid work model is offered with office and remote options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience with expertise on Repurchase Agreement and related documentation.
• Strong communication skills: ability to convey complex terms to internal stakeholders clearly.
• Ability to work closely and collaboratively with other departments.

Role Description

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is hiring a Vice President to work within the Legal Department for the Trade Transaction Management group. The primary focus of this role is to support the bank’s fixed income trading and derivatives businesses.

Role Objectives

• Draft, review and negotiate legal trading documentation (including Master Repurchase Agreements, Master Securities Lending Agreements, Master Securities Forward Transaction Agreements and their global equivalents (along with and ancillary documentation relating to such agreements).
• Focus on repurchase agreements including documentation required for mandated sponsor clearing.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders including sales and trading, credit, risk, management and operations regarding documentation terms and escalations.
• Advise the business on complex issues related to relevant documentation.

Qualifications and Skills

• 5+ years of relevant experience with expertise on Repurchase Agreement and related documentation
• Strong communication skills: ability to convey complex terms or ideas to internal stakeholders in a simple and effective manner.
• Ability to work closely and collaboratively with other departments.
• Bachelor’s Degree (required)
• Law Degree (preferred)
