Job summary

ReCon Management Services seeks an experienced Engineering Supervisor for an in-plant role. You will supervise design and drafting, enforce company standards, and manage personnel in refinery/petrochemical contexts.

Requirements include a BS in Engineering, 9+ years in related fields, P.E. preferred, and strong knowledge of ASME/API codes, plus proficiency with SAP and discipline-specific tools. On-site work with extended hours as needed.

Summary of Description:

Technical supervision of design and drafting. Design, implementation and enforcement of company standards and policies. Management of personnel.

Duties:
  • Prepare man hour budget and review forecast
  • Prepare scope documents as necessary
  • Prepare space, manpower & equipment required
  • Select staff
  • Prepare and evaluate schedule
  • Direct work
  • Attend/conduct meetings
  • Assignment of tasks and employees
  • Ensure technical compliance
  • Implement standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Quality review
  • Training & interviewing of personnel
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university with at least nine (9) years of experience, primarily in the refinery, petrochemical, or chemical industries, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

License Requirements:
  • Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement
  • Professional Engineer License desired
Specific Skills:
  • Seeking to mentor younger engineers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook or similar software.
  • Experienced with discipline-specific computer applications (i.e., ETAP, STAAD, CAESAR, etc.).
  • Communication – good oral and written skills are required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements in the related discipline required.
  • Knowledge related to design in discipline field expected.
  • Knowledge of key aspects of Civil, Mechanical, I/E and Chemical Engineering
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Requirements

* Due to being an in-plant position, the below referenced Job Duties have been provided by the client:

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fixed equipment design, fabrication, repair, inspection, or related disciplines in Petrochemical facilities
  • Ability to work in an industrial plant environment, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces, and performing physical activities such as walking, crawling, crouching, balancing, and sitting.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and holidays, and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASME and API codes related to equipment construction, repair, rerating, and alterations.
  • Working knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and construction drawings.
Preferred Qualifications / Competencies:

Knowledge of API 571, API 574, API 575, and NBIC standards. Experience using SAP. Experience conducting Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), including methodologies such as Cause Mapping and TapRooT. Experience in FMEA and RCM Familiarity with industry-standard fixed equipment design and fitness-for-service software applications.

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with metallurgy-related experience or coursework.
