We are seeking a dependable and motivated Shop Pipe Fitter/Pipe Welder Helper to support our fabrication team in the production and assembly of process piping, pipe and cable tray supports, transformer vaults, and various structural and mechanical components.

This is a shop-based position ideal for someone looking to gain hands‑on experience in industrial fabrication, mechanical assembly, and bolt‑up work. The Shop Helper will work alongside experienced Fabricators, Welders, and Bolt‑Up personnel to assist with material handling, preparation, assembly, and general shop activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Fabricators, Welders, and Bolt‑Up personnel with daily shop activities.
• Load, unload, move, stage, and organize pipe, structural steel, fittings, hardware, and other materials.
• Assist with measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, drilling, and material preparation under supervision.
• Prepare materials and components for fabrication, welding, and assembly.
• Assist with bolt‑up and mechanical assembly of structural and fabricated components.
• Assist with installing bolts, nuts, washers, and other hardware.
• Use hand tools, impact guns, wrenches, and other tools as trained and directed.
• Assist with aligning, positioning, and securing components prior to final assembly or installation.
• Follow torque requirements and assembly instructions as directed by qualified personnel.
• Assist with pipe and structural steel fit‑up.
• Help Fabricators locate and stage materials according to drawings, work orders, and fabrication requirements.
• Assist with handling and positioning fabricated components.
• Keep workstations, tools, and shop areas clean and organized.
• Maintain proper material and hardware organization.
• Perform routine shop cleanup and material handling.
• Follow directions from Fabricators, Welders, Bolt‑Up personnel, and Shop Supervisors.
• Follow all company, OSHA, and project‑specific safety procedures.
• Wear required PPE and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform other shop duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous construction, fabrication, mechanical, warehouse, or industrial experience is helpful but not required.
• Previous bolt‑up, mechanical assembly, structural steel, or fabrication experience is a plus.
• Willingness to learn fabrication, mechanical assembly, and bolt‑up techniques.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials and equipment.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Safety-conscious attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively in working English and understand safety procedures.
