Petersen Precision Manufacturing is hiring a Fitter/Welder in Farr West, UT. You will read blueprints, supervise a crew, and oversee welding to meet customer and schedule requirements.

The role requires welding skills, blueprints interpretation, teamwork, and a commitment to safety. We offer on-the-job training and a 4x10 schedule with competitive pay and bonuses.

Qualificações

• Must read blueprints and weld symbols accurately.
• Ability to supervise a crew and complete jobs from start to finish with minimal supervision.
• Strong math skills including trigonometry for fit-up and layout.
• Commitment to safety and quality in a fabrication shop.

We also offer multiple team member engagement activities and community events.Fitter/Welder (All Levels)Farr West, UTJob Summary:Will read blueprints, fit and/or oversee fitting, expedite parts, weld and/or oversee welding.Take ownership of job to meet customer and schedule requirements.Essential Functions:Read blueprintsBe able to supervise a crew and complete a job from start to finish without direct supervisionExpedite all parts throughout the plant as necessary to meet production goalsSolve all obstacles related to the job he/she is runningTake ownership for meeting customer and schedule requirementsBe a living example of our principles of unity, trust, honesty, integrity, creativity, and self-relianceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be able to make all welds uniform and clean, and complete work to customer’s specificationsPass Blueprint test:1. Read all weld symbols on a blueprintDifferentiate between channel, angle, flat bar, square tube, pipe etc.Pass basic plate weld test (visual and bend) within specified time requirements, in four out of the five weld processes used at Petersen Inc:1. F.C.A.W. – Stainless and mild steel: 3G, and 6G positionG.M.A.W. – Mild steel: 3G positionG.T.A.W. – Stainless and aluminum: 3G, and 6G positionS.A.W. – Sub arc: 1G position is a plus but no requiredMust know how to calculate Arc length and circumferenceKnow how to calculate Bolt Circles, Chord Length, and Flat PatternMust be able to work well in a team environmentAble to listen well, understand concerns, and gain cooperation to solve problems quickly and effectively.Must be efficient and productive with timeMust maintain an acceptable attendance and safety recordMaintain safe environment.Minimum Requirements:High School education or GED preferred.1-2 years of shop or field welding.Must be able to understand implicit and explicit instructions and react favorably in all work situations.Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflicts, and make effective decisions under pressure.Ability to do math calculations, especially trigonometry.Essential Physical Functions:Requires lifting, stooping, bending and stretching to accomplish grinding, welding and other assigned duties. Requires ability to work at different heights.Requires correctable vision to within normal range to perform clean and uniform welds and read blueprints.Requires standing, bending and stooping for extended periods of time.Safety Requirements:Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or othersMust be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the employer’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.Equipment Used (but not limited to):Welder, Grinder, Gouge, Drills, Tools.Travel:Must be available and willing to travel as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.Working Conditions:Works in a typical fabrication shop environment.
