SUMMARY

Safely erects and fits together appropriate equipment and materials for building asphalt plants and related components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in building asphalt plant equipment and related components by safely and efficiently fitting and welding metal parts with quality focus.
  • Demonstrate ability to properly weld using GMAW and FCAW processes.
  • Inspect metal prior to welding for surface quality and produce welds with minimal post-grinding.
  • Ensure welding machine settings are appropriate for the task.
  • Follow PPE requirements for welding, including hood, filter shades, and arm/body protection.
  • Adhere to proper safety rules and procedures.
  • Overtime, including weekends, may be required.
SUPERVISORY

None

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • Proficient and safe welding using GMAW and FCAW.
  • Ability to read and interpret weld symbols on drawings.
  • Skill in safely operating cranes and forklifts.
  • Must pass a welding skills test.
  • Knowledge of fit-up processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions in various forms, and deal with limited standardization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regular use of hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and talking. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Occasionally move objects over 49 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to shop and warehouse hazards, moving mechanical parts, weather conditions, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and loud noise. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
