Job Description
As a Fitter/Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating a wide range of miscellaneous metal projects. This includes cutting and welding metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand-welding equipment.
Minimum Starting Salary: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour - depending on experience (Full-time Alamo employees are eligible for shift differential pay)
Essential Functions
Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
Maintain, organize, and keep work area and equipment in operating condition.
Hand-weld and/or flame-cut equipment to join metal components.
Cut and scarf using an oxy-acetylene torch.
Structural welding using FCAW & SMAW.
Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
Properly assemble and disassemble weld setups.
Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
Reshape metal workpieces to establish specifications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of metal and basic shop fabrication equipment.
Knowledge and proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to pass a welding test.
Knowledge of TIG welding is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Ability to withstand pressure and adapt to change.
Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
