About the Role

Meyer Utility Structures, a subsidiary of Arcosa, Inc., is seeking Welders for their utility pole manufacturing plant in Steele, Alabama. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on welding skills, experience in visual weld inspection, and the ability to plan the sequence of operations.

Responsibilities

1. Plan sequence of operation and set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures.
2. Locate and mark centerlines and reference points onto floor or face block, then transpose them to workpieces.
3. Move and align parts into position.
4. Remove high spots and cut bevels.
5. Straighten warped or bent parts.
6. Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps, or bolt parts for welding or riveting.
7. Use transit to locate reference points and erect ladders and scaffolding for assembling large structures.
8. Read measuring devices, interpret drawings, and tack weld components accordingly.
9. Conceptually understand how drawings translate to actual work.
10. Maintain good attendance.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of welding experience.
• Ability to read measuring devices, interpret drawings, and tack weld components based on drawings and travelers.
• Ability to understand how drawings translate into actual work.
• Good attendance record.
